Community Organizers
Do you have canvass experience? Why not come work for an organization that is producing real results. Since 1979, we have been instrumental in protecting over 1 million acres of wilderness and 2 million acres of roadless forests in Washington state. We have strong, effective, meaningful conservation programs right here in Washington that you'll be proud to support.
Right now, you can help us reform unfair and anti-environmental mining laws. Did you know that current US hard-rock mining laws prioritize mining over all other uses of our public lands. The law allows mining companies to buy public lands for only $5 an acre (that's right - Five Dollars!) and take millions of dollars in publicly owned minerals for free.
Washington state has over three thousand abandoned mining claims and many mines that can't be cleaned up because no funds are available. We think mining companies should be required to pay reasonable royalties on their mining profits which could be used to clean up abandoned mines that are creating a hazard on our public lands and polluting our streams and drinking water.
WWC is hiring community organizers for our neighborhood canvass to help on mining reform and other issues - like protecting wilderness, preserving our roadless forests and saving endangered wildlife. Experience is preferred, but if you’re passionate about the environment we will train you. Starting pay is $10 an hour plus generous bonuses, vacation, sick leave, and full medical and dental benefits after three months.
Come work for us and make a real difference for our wildlands!
