Alpine Lakes Wilderness Additions and Middle Fork Snoqualmie and Pratt River Proposals
Washington Wild is leading a coalition of conservation and recreation groups that are working to develop local support for the second National Forest Wilderness proposal in over 20 years. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Congressman Dave Reichert (R-WA08) and Congresswoman Suzan Del Bene (D-WA01) have reintroduced legislation that would designate more than 22,000 acres of rare low-elevation forest land as Wilderness, which is adjacent to the existing Alpine Lakes Wilderness area. It will also designate more than 30 miles of the Middle Fork Snoqualmie and 10 miles of the Pratt Rivers as Wild and Scenic Rivers.
